The oculoplastics and orbit department deals mainly with 4 categories of illness and their treatments

  • All lid related problems such as, ptosis(drooping), entropion(inward turning of lid margin), ectropion(outward turning of lid margin),tumours of the lids and benign lid growths. Surgical treatments are available for all of these problems

  • All problems related to the lacrimal system which result in tearing(watering) from the eye surgeries for correction are available here. We also have Laser Dcr facility where fine lasers introduced through the puncta (natural openings in the eyelids) are able to make an opening in the nasal bone so there is no actual surgery involved-a mere 10-15 minute procedure to cure long standing watering.

  • All swellings, growths and tumours of the orbit (the bony cage surrounding the eyeball) whether present since birth or acquired in adulthood. Good facilities for general anaesthesia are available

  • Cosmetic surgeries for eyelid bags, puffiness, drooping etc.

  • Botox treatment for medical and cosmetic purposes is also done

Oculoplasty Clinic

The most common cosmetic problem regarding the eyes is drooping of eyelids. The lid margins can turn inwards or outwards with ageing and may need surgical treatment. The tears produced in the eyes are drained into the nose normally and any blockage in this drainage system can cause watering from the eyes. This problem is treated with surgery.

Facilities

  • Cosmetic and functional correction of eyelid disorder
  • DCR - surgery for blocked tear ducts
  • Socket reconstruction
