Optometry

B.Sc. in Optometry

The American Academy of Optometry defines the primary care optometrist as:

"A practitioner with ongoing responsibility for the total visual, ocular, and related care of a population of patients. Primary care optometry is a focus of practice activity that emphasizes the development and maintenance of a high level of knowledge and clinical ability over the entire area of eye / vision care and associated areas of eye-related health care."

As eye care in India progresses - both in widening its reach across the nation and in raising its standards to the highest levels - and new and more sophisticated products are available in the market, there is an increasing demand for competent optometrists who can provide the best eye care for people with visual disabilities.

To fulfill this need, ICARE has affiliated with the Indira Gandhi National Open University to offer a four year B.Sc. Course in Optometry.
