Advanced ophthalmic aid in
India is readily available in urban areas. Because of prevailing
socio-economic conditions the rural population has meagre access to these
services and the problem of this denial is accentuated for the elderly and
the infirm residents of our villages. This is where ICARE has stepped in
and established an effective rural out reach programme which covers an
approximate radius of 200 Kms from the base hospital at Noida, providing
modern ophthalmic services to the poor and the aged. It is not necessary
for the elderly and the needy to come to us- we reach out to them and
provide them with free and modern eye care. Patients screened and
identified for cataract surgery and other Ocular problems at the Rural OPDs, are brought to the base
hospital at Noida in our ambulances. Their stay at the hospital
includes food, medicines, cataract surgery with IOL implant and other Ocular Surgeries and
transportation back to their home villages.
