Neurophthalmology is the subspecialty of ophthalmology, which deals with vision problems/disorders associated with the nervous system. it includes diseases that affect vision, control of eye movements or pupillary reflexes.

Some of the symptoms of such disorders include, headaches, double vision(diplopia), Nystagmus (continuous eye movement), Blepherospasm (twitching of eye muscles).examples of Neurophthalmological disorders are: Optic Neuritis, Optic Neuropathies, Papiloedema, Extraocular muscle paralysis.

Neurophthalmological issues need to be addressed as promptly as possible, before they cause irreparable damage.

Colour vision testing, visual field analysis and electrophysiology (VEP, ERG),are the investigations which maybe required for diagnosis and subsequent management of these disorders.
