Dr Shahana Mazumdar is a Senior Consultant in the Retina department with special interest in diseases of the Uvea, Retinal blood vessels, including diabetic retinopathy and retinal vessel diseases and Age related macular degeneration. She did her MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College with a National Talent Search Scholarship. Her PG (Ophthalmology) was from Guru Nanak Eye Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. She subsequently cleared the Diplomat of National Board examination. After working and teaching as a Senior Resident at Guru Nanak Eye Centre for 3 years, she worked as a consultant at a multispecialty hospital in New Delhi, Sitaram Bhartia Institute and Research Centre. Subsequently, she went to Mumbai and did her fellowship in Vitreo retinal from Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital. On return to Delhi in 2004 she has since then worked at the ICARE eye hospital and as a visiting Consultant at Sitaram Bhartia Hospital. She has a keen interest in uveitis and has participated actively in Uveitis meetings and has judged Uvea papers at All India Ophthalmology Society conferences and Uveitis Society of India. She has been the principle investigator in several clinical trials related to newer drugs for managing Uveitis, Age Related Macular Degeneration and Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. She has been a reviewer for the Journal of Ocular Immunology and Inflammation. She is also a member of the Ethics committee of the hospital and a guide for several Theses of PG students. She has authored a book and several chapters.

Uveitis, Diabetic retinal diseases, Retinal vascular diseases and age related macular degeneration.
